Summary of Bushcraft courses I have attended, grouped by school.

Shelters
A selection of my favourite natural shelters. Some of them I have made myself others I have seen and photographed, but I promise you will find them fascinating.

About Woodsmoke
Woodsmoke, run by Ben and Lisa, with the help of many experienced instructors like Matt.

Woodlander 1
First course with woodsmoke, fundamental skills taught to a fairly advanced levels. I make cordage, prepare a Rabbit, learn about animal tracks and sharpen a knife. I also make some new friends while farcically attempting fishing.

Woodlander 2
Sit by a campfire, take a Canoe out on the tarn, have a woodland Sauna, and read Bushcraft books in the Boathouse.

Autumn Harvester
Woodland cookery course. I forage and collect berry's, find a Stinkhorn, make a "bush" Pie, bake bread on a stick, use a Yukon stove and a Hangi oven.

Axe Workshop 1
Making things with Axes. I finally meet Ben Orford. Learn about different kinds of axes, and make a spoon and bowl. We construct a tarn ladder.

Axe Workshop 2
I witness the very best in Swedish Cinema, construct a bow saw frame and learn and practice the correct technique for felling a tree.

Abo 1
Three days in the woods, living as a UK Aborigine. Making fire and constructing the shelter. The equipment I took and the friends I was with.

Abo 2
Inside our "home". Catching fish and collecting water. Walk out of the woods to a feast of a breakfast. Basha boat racing.

Native 1
More advanced techniques of Bushcraft. Improvised shelters, pump and hand drill, weaving grass mattresses, making containers from bark, preparing squirrel, catching fish with night lines and a lost knife in the gut bag.

Native 2
More hunting and fishing. Weaving baskets, fish smoker, a frame rucksacks, making nets, gypsy wells, bark and stone boiling.

Spring Forager 1
Similar to the Autumn Harvester I had previously attended, I spend time wandering around the countryside, identifying edible plants.

Spring Forager 2
I finally make near perfect bread, and cook all sorts of sea food, fish and taste seaweed. In the evening, we get to try some home made alcohol

Plantlore
I learn about the many uses of plants (food, medicine, soap, drinks). The weather is harsh, but we have a great weekend all the same.

About Survivalschool
Survival school, run by Jonny Crocket and helped by some superb instructors like Kev and JK.

Weekend Course
I attend a weekend Bushcraft/survival course. Learn loads of useful stuff on a very authentic and informative course. Some miniature shelters.

Kennel Shelter
Part of a one day course, we construct a lean too, or Kennel shelter and add a fire and reflector for warmth.

Advanced 1
One day advance course. Making Otter boards, purifying water through distillation, constructing a wikiup, making cherry bread and eating Ostrich burgers.

Advanced 2
Another advanced course. Cribbage trap, fire drill, collecting and purifying water making "woodland" garlic naan bread.

Tracking

Tracking course run in association with Shadowhawk. Using track traps, measuring distance between footprints, moving silently and the Tracker Knife.

Friction Fire lighting

Friction Firelighting course run in association with Woodland Survival Crafts. Checking the dryness of wood, making cordage, fire drill and hand drill.

Desert 1
Nine day desert survival course in Morocco. Living in the desert and equipment selection. Improvised shelters, traditional bread cookery, working with vehicles and dangerous desert creatures.

Desert 2
Navigation and desert trekking. Improvised firelighting, water procurement and signaling. Cooking rice on a solar cooker.

Woodcraft school run by John Ryder and assisted by Nick and Chen.

Bow making course
Different bow designs. Measuring up and using a draw knife and cabinet scraper. Tillering the bow, making the arrows and test shooting. Testing out the shower.
