To regular readers of johnsunter.com apologies for not updating some of the pages, I expect to do the pages from Thailand and Borneo one evening this week (if I can get over the Jet lag). To new guests from the Borneo trip, welcome to johnsunter.com, we hope you like it.

Well, this year I am finally 40 (in my twenty's, I always said that my 30 would be the best years of my life, and I now feel the same optimism for my 40's).

Loads of my friends are traveling down (or up) to Chester to spend the day with me, on the 3rd of May (starting at about 12 lunchtime, in the Frog and Nightingale).

Look forward to seeing you all there, take care and speak soon.

Dan has finally finishes his stuff from Peru. You can view it here.

The end of an era. Danny finally leaves BT.

Personal friend and known local Loon, Danny Quinn (pictured on the right), today officially leaves BT Chester.

He has another job in Crewe, and we here at johnsunter.com (essentially me) would like to wish him every success in the future.

Hopefully, the confusion about my own employment will now end, and I wont have to suffer the irritation of being asked how things are going at BT, by people who think I work there by association.

Best wishes Danny, the walking suit's will now have to depend on Dizzy Dave, aka the Son of God.

Frank and Na tie the Knot.

Frank finally got married to the lovely Na, who I met earlier in the year.

Although he lives 8 time zones from here, he's still my best friend, and I would like to offer my congratulations, along with all the others he must have already received.

Frank and Na are visiting the UK later in the year, it will be great to see them again.

I visit Kuala Lumpur and stand in front of the Petronas towers.

Flew in the other night from Kuala Lumpur. Pretty smart city overall. Another one off the blue list, me standing in front of the Petronas Towers.

I finally go Jungle Trekking in the Crocker Ranges, Borneo.

Just got back from walking the Salt Route, a seldom (we didn't see another group on the whole trek) walked route in the Crocker Ranges. It was quite hard going (but then doing a crossword in that heat and humidity is difficult).

Fantastic Trek, what can I say, I really enjoyed it, and Id like to thank JK, Dan and Richard who were with me.

I have a 2nd go at Diving with the Down below diving school.

I had a bad experience at scuba diving, on the Great Barrier reef some years ago. I felt that I was rushed, and always wondered, if I would succeed, if I had another go, with a bit more time and in a bit more relaxing environment.

I had a 90 minute briefing, which was really informative, then lunch, followed by a practical dive.

After 40 minutes of trying, it was obvious, that I just wasn't comfortable "breathing" underwater, and I simply couldn't do it. Still, diving isn't for everyone, at least I gave it a proper go, and I know its not for me.

My sincere thanks to Richard Swann at Down below diving.

An evening of Malaysia's famous "fusion" food.

Malaysia is famous internationally for its "fusion food". The idea is to merge the flavours of Chinese, Indian and traditional Malaysian food, to create an additional flavour through synergy.

I talked a few of the lads, into joining me for the evening. We visited the famous Secret Recipe Restaurant.

I opted to eat the award winning Irish lamb stew with fusion Sauce. I didn't realise when ordering it, that since its their signature dish, there was a big picture of it on the wall behind me.

I finally "bag" my first 4000m peak.

I've been above 4000m before while walking, but that was across the headless woman mountain pass in Machu Picchu.

At 4096m, Kota Kinabalu is the highest mountain in South East Asia.

It really was hard work, and I had to dig deep to get to the top, but as you can see from this picture, I got to the top (I was even wearing my johnsunter.com t shirt).
