Our new Logo.

Several articles I have read recently, have said that for a website to be successful, it has to have a logo.

As I sat in the Dr's surgery, I started to scribble together some things (I always try to make the most of dead time like that). The website is subtitled "The adventures of an ordinary person" and its goal is to show people, that instead of sitting in the pub, you could be walking the Inca Trail, or riding a Harley Davidson along the Great Ocean Road. I do those kind of adventures, and I'm an ordinary person. I write about them, to show that literally, an ordinary person, really can see and do amazing things.

After a little thought, the idea of a mountain symbolising adventure, and a sofa symbolising ordinary life seemed to work. The question is, what is it, that bridges them. I thought of a written down list (the most useful tool, in pursuit of adventure, no survival knife, bivi bag or GPS, can compare even closely with this superb tool). In the end, I decided on a picture of a person.

After more thought, I decided to use a picture of a man, the idea being that the ordinary person is the bridge between the sofa and the mountain. I popped into the Frog and Nightingale, and sought the help of Jo, who had previous experience as a graphic artist (she is extremely talented in other areas, she actually cooked this). After a bit of deliberation, she reckoned that we should put all 3 things into one scene.

Interestingly, a guest at the bar, volunteered an idea, that the sofa face away from the mountain, and the person on the sofa, appear to be reclining. I really liked that. The idea that a person could be sat slouching on a sofa, with an amazing mountain scene behind him, he hasn't noticed, is the very essence of everything this website is about.

Pete from work, got some pictures off the internet, photographed me sitting down, and put the whole thing together, in the image you see now.

I am delighted with the Logo and like nearly everything else I do, it would have been impossible without the help of others. I would like therefore to thank Jo, Lukas2 and Pete.

If you have a moment, go to our guest book, and tell us what you think of it.
