Ramada Renaissance, Manchester.
On a night out in Manchester to Celebrate Franks birthday, we missed our train and decided to stay here.
When you live in a city, you walk past all the best hotels, but you never think you will end up staying in one of them.
This is one of the best hotels in Manchester, and my personal favourite. It featured in an episode of Cracker.
They even gave use a complimentary bottle of wine, and we had breakfast in bed (the bed was the biggest one I have ever seen).
Midland hotel, Manchester
One of the oldest hotels in Manchester.
We stayed here for the weekend.
It was beautiful inside, and we had breakfast in the restaurant on the first day, and breakfast in bed the 2nd.
Was great to go out for the evening, and wander back to the hotel.
They even parked Sarah's car for us.

Scotsman hotel, Edinburgh.
The first time I had stayed in a 5 star hotel, during a long weekend, in Edinburgh.
The service was excellent, and the room had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.
It was so high tech, it had 8 different switches to adjust the lighting, and you could use the phone in the bedroom to dial the phone in the bathroom.
Each of the rooms had a tartan theme, and was endorsed by the family it came from.
Piccadilly hotel, Manchester
Another brilliant Manchester Hotel, we stayed in during another of Franks birthdays.
This is the view, over the re-developed Piccadilly Gardens.

Lakes Lodge hotel, Ambleside.
After a stressful couple of weeks, we had a weekend in the lakes (we typically go to the Lakes 4 times a year).
The lakes lodge, was quite modern inside, and had a DVD in the room (we took our own films, but you can rent them from the reception).
I thought this was a great little hotel for getting away, and it was only walking distance from the centre of Ambleside.
The Eltermere Country house hotel, Eltermere.
This hotel was miles out of the way, which made it all the more relaxing
We used it as a base for a tour of the Lakes.
The food there, was some of the finest I have ever eaten (there was no menu as such, Chef prepared dinner of 4 courses, and it was superb.)
Although I love the English Lakes, they can be busy at times, and it was great to experience peace and tranquility during the evening, sitting out in the Gardens.

Hotel Angleterre, Berlin.
We visited Berlin for along weekend (it was the last one, before Frank headed for Thailand.
Our room had a luxury bedroom, dining room and the most elaborate bathroom I have ever seen.
It was also on the same road as Checkpoint Charlie, and roughly in the middle, of all the sights.
Woodlands Hotel, Pattaya.
Stayed here for 8 days, after a grueling 4 months in the UK.
What can I say, the service was superb, food was excellent, and it was probably the most relaxing holiday I have ever been on.

The Waldorf Astoria, New York.
It had always been my dream, and I promised myself that if I ever visited New York I would stay here.
What can be said, about a hotel like this. Think how the well-to-do people are treated in the film Titanic, and you get some idea of what its like to stay here.
The Britannia Hotel, Manchester.
The amazing staircase, of the Britannia hotel in Manchester.
Its possible to get a room in this amazing hotel for only £50 per night.
Unfortunately, it won't have any windows !.

Siam Society hotel and resort, Bangkok Thailand.
This place really is an Oasis.
About 8 miles outside the centre of Bangkok, the rooms are beautiful, the hotel is really serene, and they make superb scrambled eggs for breakfast.
The Lodor Falls hotel.
On the bank of the Derwent water lake near Keswick, this amazing hotel has everything, location, absolute luxury, fantastic customer service and an amazing restaurant.
Not cheap, but if you stay there, I think you'll agree its worth it.
